September Wish List

Do you all ever have those few things that you would love to have and you just can't seem to get them out of your head?  I do and these are it!  Introducing my September wish list...

One. 14x20 Gold Polka Dot Pillow | Goods By Grinn
Three. Caitlin Wilson Petals Pillow | Waiting on Martha
Four. Hairbrush, Comb, & Bobby Pins Print | Rifle Paper Co.

I believe that if these items are on my mind, I should probably have them, right?!  What items do you want that you just can't get out of your mind?! Let me know in the comments - I want to know so I can check them out and add them my wish list. :)

Front Porch Pillows

I finally found pillows to add to my outdoor furniture on the front porch!  I have searched long and hard for pillows I like and are inexpensive (I'm cheap).  Here is what I found at Burlington Coat Factory - only $6.99 for each pillow!

My original plan was to try them out and see if I liked them after a day or two knowing that I could always return them. However, the dog, "Bam," decided that one of them would make a good toy to run around the yard with so I had no choice but to like them. :)  (Thankfully the only damage that occured was a couple of holes from teeth marks - he now knows that these are not toys.  He must have known he was in trouble because he went straight to his doghouse and wouldn't come out!)

Regardless, I like them and am happy with my purchase!

They even match my little fire pot!

I love outdoor spaces and tend to spend a lot of Friday nights on the porch catching up over dinner and a few cocktails - this is one of the best parts of summer!

Outdoor Porch Pillows: Vote for your favorites!

I am going give our front porch a little spruce-up by adding some outdoor pillows.  Originally, I wasn't going to spend the money to add them, but I've found that we are out there a lot on summer nights.  Plus - it is a great place to entertain and the first impression of our house.  So, I'm giving in and making the purchase.

I need your help though!  I am a terrible decision maker when it comes to choosing accessories so I need you all to help me decide which pillows to get!  I've narrowed down my choices to 9 (that's still a lot but I narrowed it way down).

Here they are - please leave a comment below with the number of your selection(s) or vote on the Design Your Dwelling Facebook page by clicking "like." If you feel strongly and want to vote multiple times - please do!  My plan is to have two different styles that compliment each other.

Here is a look at my outdoor furniture for reference.  Pretty basic against a grey house so anything will work!  (The star in the back will be replaced so no need to take that into consideration)

Thanks for your help! :)

Living Room Plan

I am in desparate need of a game-plan to jazz up our living room.  I find our main living and gathering space to be a little boring and in need of some color and visual interest.

Fortunately we have a solid foundation to start with including updated furniture, brand new windows, a solid wood floor and a wall color that will work with any color scheme!  Below are my initial thoughts for color and my "to do" list.

Color:

To Do List:

1. Select window treatments (shades and curtains)
2. Find new or re-cover throw pillows
3. Wall hangings
4. Accessorize
5. Replace the rug?

I would define my style as contemporary and simple but I would really like to incorporate pattern and texture to create visual interest in this room.  I think I can accomplish that by re-covering throw pillows and finding the right curtains.  Chances are, I will probably end up doing a lot of sewing so I get the fabric and exact look that I want. (Believe it or not I can sew... but only straight lines!)

Readers - Let me know what you think or if you have any suggestions (color, accessories, furniture arrangement) to make this room look like it belongs in a magazine! :)  If I incorporate your suggestion you will get something REAL NICE!
