Tile Decisions

Our home renovation is moving along quite smoothly.  In fact, my last decision (that I'm aware of) is what tile to go with for our backsplash.  I've narrowed down my choices to two options from The Tile Shop.  My two options are shown with the quartz counter top we decided on.

Option 1: Hampton Carrara Smooth Rectified Tile

Our kitchen is a small U-shaped kitchen (we didn't add on) so to help the space look larger we chose a light-colored counter top surface and are going to compliment it with a very light colored backsplash.  The cabinets will be a dark walnut (white is out of the question for us since we live on a farm) and the flooring will be a wood laminate.  I like the classic look of these tile options because I want something that will look nice and still somewhat "modern" down the road.

I'm stuck - I like both of these backsplash options!  Ahhhh!! What do you think?  I would love to get your opinion so please leave a comment below letting me know what you would choose!

  1. My pick is option 2. I like it because its not as "busy" as the top and it looks easier to keep clean (which is a major must for me :)) Also, I think the larger tiles will make your kitchen look bigger. Both look great, I can see why you are stuck! Can't wait to see what you decide!

  2. Kari and I both vote for the top one!
I like the variation in tile sizes and I think it adds some interest, while still maintaining a clean and bright look!

    Good luck!!

  3. Yay I'm glad you're doing quartz! It's definitely the way to go. And I love the first one. Once all done I don't think it will actually look busy, in fact as a whole I think it will look less busy than the second...

  4. Definetly the top one!!! I like how it is busier and breaks up the "white" a bit! Good luck :)

  5. Love the first one! I just like smaller tiles for a back splash personally!

  6. Both look great, but based on your thought process for narrowing it down to these two, I'd go with option 2. The larger tiles, I think, will help the space seem bigger and more "open." Plus, they look easier to clean. Either way, though, your new space will look fab!
