Anyhoo - Last week in my High Five For Friday post I mentioned that I keep a blog journal and quite a few of you left comments that said, "hey good idea!" and "what do you keep in your blog journal?" So, I thought I would share some more details about it with you!
This journal has really helped me get organized! The Mole Skin journal is where I keep everything, it is always in my work bag. The little red journal is one that I can more easily throw in my purse when I'm out and about.
I keep a running list of post ideas which means I never run out of things to write about. Anything that inspires me or any post idea that pops in my head - I write it down otherwise I know I will forget it. I also write down the key points for each post. This just helps me organize my thoughts and (I think) helps to improve the quality of my content.
In addition to a running list of post ideas. I keep two other lists - one for my Wedding Wednesdays series that documents my wedding planning process. And, one that is related to ideas for mood boards to compliment my Mood Board Link Party that takes place every Tuesday.
I also keep my blog design details in my blog journal. This includes header length and width, colors and the color numbers for PicMonkey - the photo editor I use.
Every once in awhile I come across some great blogging tips that I want to be reminded of, so they go in here.
All of my blog-related links and passwords are kept tight here so I can access them easily.
Finally, my ad space details can be found in here too.
Do you keep a blog journal?! If not, hopefully this will encourage you to do so! The bonus of keeping one is that it is fun to look back on to see what has all taken place over time! :)
I just started keeping a blog journal a few weeks ago, but mine is not as pretty as yours! I just bought a 9x6 spiral 3-subject notebook. I use the first section for blog ideas, the second section for tips and ideas I've come across, and the third is not used yet. lol Haven't figured what else I want to do with it yet. Love your ideas!
ReplyDeleteGood idea to by a notebook with three sections and keep yourself organized!
DeleteI don't have an "official" blog journal. I just down notes on my iphone when I am out somewhere and I also start a lot of drafts on my blog. Glad to hear yours is working out so well!

This is a good idea! Like the poster above I just write down ideas in my iphone...you are so organized!
ReplyDeleteI keep a similar journal in the same exact journal! It is so helpful to jot down ideas and always have them accessible!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I need to start doing this to get my ideas organized!
ReplyDeleteI keep a blog journal as well. Mine isn't as nice and pretty as yours but I am just getting started. It helps me organize thoughts & inspirations into post ideas. Thanks for sharing about this. & Happy Monday!

DeleteI have a blog journal also! I'm always having to write things down, otherwise I'll forget! I don't write as much as you do, but keeping track of your blog design and colors, is a great idea! I will definitely be writing that one down!

This sounds silly but the notebook is important. I love the mole skin notebooks for this purpose. Plus you can always decorate them!
DeleteI am so bad with keeping up with this!

Thanks for stopping by! Glad I was able to inspire you to start a journal!
DeleteI created a planner after the new year with a section for blog planning. I don't always follow my "schedule" or plan ahead, but blogging goes so much more smoothly when I do!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great share! Your journals are so pretty. I use a weekly planner with an extra notepad that fits inside the planner. These two together have been so helpful. I love the pictures you used for this post too. You're design style is all over your blog, I love it!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! I write my ideas on little pieces of paper and then end up misplacing or losing them. I am going to start the cute notebook today! Thank you! pippa
ReplyDeleteI have a blog journal too! My students caught me writing in it one day and wanted to know what a Blog To Do was. lol
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great idea!! And who wouldn't write to write fun things down in those cute journals?! Target is bringin' it with the cuteness lately!
