Ever wonder what makes a room look so great?! Of course there are a few things like furniture layout and color scheme but creating some visual interest by mixing prints and patterns is what gives the room a finished look!
So, as a continuation of my post from Wednesday, Know Your Decor Patterns, I thought it would be beneficial to take you one step further and offer some tips for how to mix and match patterns. Mixing and Matching patterns can bring a lot of excitement into a room, but trying to make it work can be a little intimidating and somewhat overwhelming. Here are three tips to make this work for you and a look at some of my favorite rooms that rock mixed patterns!
1} Set small patterns against large patterns
2} Use a large, solid-colored object (sofa, wall, floor, dresser) to ground your patterns
3} Limit your color pallet to 3-4 main colors

There are so many neat looks that can be created by mixing and matching a few prints that you don't think would normally go together!
What are your favorite prints to mix & match?!
I really, really have a thing for stripes, and they're so easy to mix with other patterns!
ReplyDeleteLove this post beth! I was afraid to mix too much for a long time for some reason, but now I love unexpected patterns in our home. That first picture is my fav!
ReplyDeleteThanks Amy! I agree - it used to freak me out too! However, now I may try something bold in my living room. I'm just trying to decide what that is. :)
